A good beginning

Make your first move
the secure one.

A hardware wallet gives you a direct way to protect the keys that control your crypto. During setup, your Trezor device helps generate and safeguard those keys, while Trezor Suite gives you a place to manage supported assets and check what you are approving.

This guide walks through the essentials without asking you to enter private information here. Always use Trezor's official website and verify the address before downloading software or following support instructions.

Your setup, step by step

Ready in a few
thoughtful steps.

Go at your own pace. Your device screen is the trusted place to confirm important setup details.

01

Check your device

Begin with a device purchased from Trezor or an authorized reseller. Check that packaging and device look as expected, then connect it directly to your computer with a reliable cable. If anything seems unusual, pause and contact official Trezor support before continuing.

02

Install Trezor Suite

Navigate to trezor.io/trezor-suite by typing the address yourself or using an official Trezor link. Download the version for your operating system and follow its installation instructions. Avoid sponsored search results, unsolicited download links, and apps from unknown publishers.

03

Initialize your wallet

Open Suite and follow the on-screen prompts to set up your device. Depending on your device and its current state, you may need to install or update firmware. Read each prompt and confirm it on the Trezor itself. Choose a PIN if offered, and never approve an action you did not start.

04

Make your recovery backup

Your device will guide you through creating a recovery wallet backup. Write the words carefully, in order, on the backup medium recommended by Trezor, then store it somewhere private and protected from damage. Never photograph, type, email, or share these words. Anyone who gets them may gain control of your assets.

Slow is secure. Take a moment to understand every prompt. If your screen, package, or instructions do not match what you expect, stop and verify through official support.

KEEP IT PRIVATE
Your most important rule

Recovery words
belong to you alone.

Your recovery wallet backup is the master key to your wallet. Trezor support will never ask you to disclose it, and no legitimate website needs you to type it into a computer. Treat any request for your words as a serious warning sign, even if it looks urgent or official.

Keep the backup separate from your device, protected from other people and physical damage. Do not store it in a cloud account, notes app, email, or screenshot. If you are unsure how to store it safely, consult Trezor's official security guidance before moving crypto into the wallet.
